SUMMARY

Tip Foster hailed from a strong cricketing background. His brothers and nephews all took to cricket. Notably, Foster, having captained England in both cricket and football, was a double international. On his maiden Test appearance Foster scored 287 at Sydney in 1903. He was offered the English captaincy in 1907 but had to pull out because of his business commitments.

Foster was struck with diabetes and died a premature death in 1914, aged 36.
